Waterfall Model and Description in SDLC

SDLC TYPES
Then while coming to SDLC Types. Here we can cover the advantages and disadvantages of different types of SDLC Types
  • Waterfall Model
  • V Shaped Model
  • Spiral Model
  • Iterative/Incremental Model
  • Proto Type Mode
  • W Model
Waterfall Model

This is the most common and classic of life cycle models, also referred to as a linear-sequential life cycle model.  It is very simple to understand and use.  In a waterfall model, The project divides in to the phases before the plan is going to implement for the particular project. And the development starts with initial phase completion. Once the initial phase has got completed, then the process goes to next subsequent phase. The same process is going to continue for all the phases. If every phase is working fine within the implemented application   then it moves in one direction like water fall model.

If any issue raises in between this process, it moves back to previous phase. Then also the issue is not fixed the phase will moves to back to one more previous phase until the issue is going to fix in the application. This system we are calling as CLCM(Classic Life Cycle Mode).

Advantages

  • Simple and Easy to Use
  • Easy to Manage due to the rigidity of the model, each phase has specific deliverables and a review process.
  • Phases are processed and completed one at a time
  • Works well for smaller applications where requirements are well understood.
Disadvantages

  • Adjusting scope during the life cycle can kill a application
  • No working software is produced until late during the life cycle.
  • High amounts of risk and uncertainity
  • Poor Model for complex and Object-Oriented Projects.
  • Poor model for long and ongoing projects.
  • Poor model where requirements are at a moderate to high risk of changing
